Air India is rapidly growing not only in passenger services but also in its cargo operations. The airline’s continued investment in logistics capabilities reflects its commitment to meeting the increasing demand for efficient, reliable, and timely cargo services.

One of the key milestones in this journey is the airline’s recent achievement of the prestigious Good Distribution Practices (GDP) certification for its cargo business.

Good Distribution Practices (GDP) Certification for Pharma Shipments

One more air india news has came that, Air India’s cargo division has been awarded the GDP certification, solidifying its position as a leader in the transportation of time-sensitive and temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products.

The certification places air india as the first and only Indian carrier, and one of the few in Asia, to meet international standards in the safe handling, storage, and transportation of pharmaceuticals.

Impressive Pharmaceutical Transportation Milestones

In the financial year 2024-25, air india airlines transported over 4,000 tonnes of pharmaceuticals across the globe. This achievement demonstrates the airline’s strong capability in managing sensitive cargo while adhering to strict international guidelines.

The airline’s GDP-certified stations in India include major cargo hubs in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Indore, and Goa.

Globally, the certification extends to key international airports such as New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), Chicago, London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Paris, and Amsterdam, ensuring seamless global connectivity for pharmaceutical shipments.

New State-of-the-Art Logistics Park at Bengaluru Airport

In addition to its certification, air india flights SATS Airport Services (AISATS) has inaugurated a new, state-of-the-art logistics park at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, with an investment of Rs 200 crores.

Strategically located at one of India’s busiest airports, which handled over 502,000 metric tonnes of cargo in FY25 alone, this new facility is designed to help the airport meet its ambitious goal of managing 1 million metric tonnes of cargo annually by 2030.

The new logistics park is equipped with advanced infrastructure and incorporates a variety of sustainability features. These include rainwater harvesting systems, energy-efficient LED lighting, natural lighting, and waste management practices that adhere to the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle.

These environmentally-conscious initiatives ensure that the facility not only meets the operational needs of Air India but also aligns with global sustainability standards.

With the addition of its new logistics park and the prestigious GDP certification, Air India continues to strengthen its position as a global leader in air logistics.

The airline’s ongoing investments in state-of-the-art infrastructure and international certifications allow it to meet the growing demand for the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of products—particularly pharmaceuticals—on both domestic and international routes.
