Air India and Vistara Enter Interline Partnership

A joint venture between Tata and Singapore Airlines, Vistara is a full-service airline that has partnered with Air India, one of the top airlines in India and a Star Alliance member.

Through the partnership, guests of Air India can conveniently access over 80 locations on Vistara’s route network from and to Air India’s extensive domestic and international network.

The implementation of Inter Airline Through Check-in (IATCI), which enables passengers to receive their boarding passes at the first point of departure for all segments of their journeys on a single ticket, as well as having their luggage checked through to their final destinations, is included in the scope of the agreement between the two airlines. The fact that Air India and Vistara operate out of the same terminals at the majority of India’s major airports makes on-ground travel for passengers on interline itineraries easier.

The “Interline Considerations on Irregular Operations (IROPs)” or “disruption transfer” functionality has also been deployed by Air India and Vistara. In the event of operational interruptions like delays, cancellations, diversions, etc., this enables the two airlines to smoothly transfer passengers to one another’s first available alternative flights and minimize the inconvenience to their customers.
