A Glimpse from Singapore Airshow 2024

The much-anticipated Weekend@Airshow, formerly recognized as the Singapore Airshow Public Day, has kicked off in full swing. Regarded as the quintessential Airshow in Asia, it has drawn aviation aficionados and industry leaders from across the globe.

Showcasing an impressive array of static displays, attendees can marvel at the latest offerings such as COMAC’s cutting-edge C919 and ARJ21 Aircraft, as well as the iconic E195-E2 profit hunter by Embraer. Moreover, the excitement continues with captivating flying displays featuring highlights like the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) Black Eagles. With such diverse offerings, there’s something to captivate every aviation enthusiast at this unparalleled event.

Static Displays 

With a plethora of state of the art static display assets operated by a wide range of companies, there is no doubt that there will be something for everyone to view. Let’s take a look at a few of the most iconic static display assets.

  • Embraer E195-E2 (Tech Eagle)

With the face of an eagle at the front of the aircraft, this is probably one of the most iconic livery ever to be on an aircraft! Furthermore, you could get up close with the aircraft, providing you with an amazing photo opportunity! 

  • COMAC C919/ARJ21

The C919 jet is a symbolic jet for Chinese Aviation as it signifies China’s attempt at breaking the Airbus-Boeing Duopoly. The world’s first C919 is currently on static display. The ARJ21 has 2 variants on display, mainly the passenger and freighter variant. 

  • RSAF Aster 30

One of the newest assets in the RSAF to have achieved Full Operational Capacity just last year, the Aster 30, operated by 163 SQN serves as a component in RSAF’s Island Air Defence System

Flying Displays

With the Singapore Airshow 2024 featuring a wide variety of flying displays with 6 aerial displays planned, it provides a unique opportunity for aviation enthusiasts and the public to catch a glimpse of the aircraft performing acrobatic acts! 

  • COMAC ARJ21

Painted in a ‘COMAC Express Special Livery, the ARJ21 is a regional jet manufactured by COMAC and is currently in active service with multiple Chinese carriers, together with Indonesian Airline Transnusa. 

  1. ROKAF T-50

One of the most iconic demonstration teams in the world, the ROKAF Black Eagles would provide a jaw-dropping display, which is bound to captivate both geeks and non-avgeeks alike.

 

  • HAL Dhruv 

Flown by the Sarang Demonstration Team, this versatile helicopter has been used for humanitarian and aerobatics purposes. With its unique colour scheme of a peacock, this helicopter would definitely captivate its audience! 

Activities at the airshow

  • Crafting Eco Friendly Paper Planes

Unleash your creativity by creating your own eco-friendly paper plane! From recycled materials such as used toilet rolls, to even ice cream sticks and things which are commonly found in a house, you could craft your own paper plane! 

  • Catch RSAF CPT Ted

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)’s mascot, Captain Ted makes his appearance at the airshow! With multiple opportunities both at the RSAF Booth and Static Display area, this is a chance to not be missed! 

  • Giveaways/Meet and Greet with Pilots

Ever wanted to meet your favourite pilots and flight crew? Well, here’s your chance! During meet and greet sessions, there might be giveaways of special items such as limited edition aircraft models, or even unique patches! 

  • Explore booths from multiple aerospace companies, and get to see the latest technological advancements! 

Ever wondered what the future of aviation holds? Well, fret not! Inside the Exhibition hall, there are booths from a wide variety of aviation corporations from manufacturers to defence contractors.

Air India to Launch aircraft maintenance training institute in Bengaluru

Air India to Launch aircraft maintenance training institute in Bengaluru

Air India, one of India’s leading global airlines, is set to establish a Basic Maintenance Training Organization (BMTO) in Bengaluru.

This institute will offer a comprehensive Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) program certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The program will follow an integrated 2+2 year structure, combining classroom learning with practical, hands-on training.

This initiative is part of Air India’s broader goal of creating a robust aviation ecosystem in India. With plans to expand its fleet and strengthen its operations, the airline aims to build a skilled workforce of maintenance engineers, making the organization self-reliant while supporting its ambitious transformation journey.

To bring this vision to life, air india has partnered with Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL), a subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL). Together, they will develop a state-of-the-art facility spanning 86,000 square feet at Bengaluru Airport City.

This purpose-built campus will feature modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, and qualified trainers to deliver world-class education and training. The institute is expected to become operational by mid-2026.

The BMTO will be located close to Air India’s new 12-bay Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility, also set to open in Bengaluru by early 2026. The AME program will begin with two years of academic coursework, followed by two years of practical training at the MRO, ensuring students receive hands-on experience adhering to industry standards.

In the meantime, Air India has introduced a Cadet AME program in collaboration with reputable institutions in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

This ensures continuity in its commitment to developing skilled aircraft maintenance engineers while the BMTO facility is under construction. The program also allows students to pursue a bachelor’s degree through university partnerships, enhancing their career and academic opportunities.

With this initiative, air india plane aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in aircraft maintenance and engineering, air india new planes contributing to the development of India’s aviation sector and creating specialized career paths for aspiring engineers.
