Comparison of two legendary aircraft Boeing 777x vs Boeing 747 aircraft

Boeing is one of the most well-known names in the aviation industry, having developed a wide range of aircraft from commercial to military. In this article, we’ll discuss two planes that have revolutionized the aviation industry in terms of size and volume capability. We’ll talk about the Boeing 777x and the Boeing 747.

The Boeing 777x is a game changer for commercial aircraft since it features numerous improvements in aircraft design and technology that will undoubtedly help airlines.

The Boeing 747 is the company’s most famous aircraft, having been introduced in 1969. Initially, this aircraft was dubbed the engineering marvel because it was designed without the use of computers. Nearly 4,500 engineers collaborated to create this aircraft design. It is, without a doubt, a magnificent aircraft.

The market demand for most jumbo aircraft started to decline over time, which had a negative impact on the manufacture of the Boeing 747. and this aircraft had four fuel-guzzling engines, each of which took a lot of time and money to maintain. Later, a new engine was added to cut down on fuel use. This aircraft’s manufacturing was gradually phased out as a result of all of these problems. The majority of airlines want aircraft with 300 to 400 passengers and straightforward 2-engine designs.

On the other hand, there is still a market for medium-capacity aircraft with roughly 400 -450 seats. So, Boeing has unveiled a new plan called the Boeing 777x, which will ostensibly replace the Boeing 747.

Let’s take a closer look at the Boeing 777x. It is intended to replace the Boeing 777 wide-body aircraft. The Boeing 777 is the most popular wide-body aircraft to date. It was first introduced in 1994 and has since undergone several revisions. On board the 777X, the story continues. It features various improvements while keeping the 777’s basic design and metal fuselage construction.

Let’s have a look at how the 777X differs from the 747 in terms of passenger capacity. The 777X will be available in two sizes: the larger 777-9 and the smaller 777-8. According to Boeing data, the 777-9 (the first to fly) has a capacity of up to 426 passengers (in a two-class configuration). The smaller 777-8 will seat roughly 384 passengers and will compete directly with the A350-1000.

The 777-9 is a good match for the 747. According to Boeing, the newer (and larger) 747-8 has a normal capacity of 410 passengers (this is in a three-class configuration). It is, nevertheless, graded up to a maximum of 563. The 747-8 is operated by Lufthansa in a four-class configuration with 364 passengers.

  • The entire length of 777-9 is 251 feet 9 inches (76.72 meters). At 250 feet 2 inches, the 747-8 is slightly smaller (76.3 meters).
  • The wingspan of the 747-8 is 224 feet 5 inches (68.4 meters). With its massive 261 feet 8 inches (79.75 meters) wingspan, the A380 carried this even further.
  • With folding wingtips, the 777X will be able to get past this category restriction. The wingspan is 235 feet 5 inches when fully expanded (71.75 meters). The wingtips fold to lower the length to 212 feet 8 inches on the ground (64.82 meters).
  • The Boeing triple 7 x is fitted with GE9X engine, which was recently built, is the world’s largest commercial jet engine to date.
  • These have a larger diameter fan with 16 rather than 22 blades, lighter carbon fibre composite materials, and a greater bypass ratio.
  • The Boeing 777-9 has a height of roughly 64.7 feet, while the Boeing 747-8i has a height of around 63.6 feet.
  • The Boeing 777-9 has a maximum take-off weight of 351 tonnes, while the Boeing 747 has a maximum take-off weight of 447.7 tonnes.
  • The Boeing 777-9 has a maximum payload of 73.5 tonnes, while the Boeing 747 has a payload of 76.1 tonnes.
  • The Boeing 777-9 has a fuel capacity of 52,300 US gallons, while the Boeing 747 has a fuel capacity of 59,734 US gallons.
  • The range of the Boeing 777-9 is 13,500 kilometres, while the Boeing 747 is 14,310 kilometres.

Most of the Boeing 777x technology is just similar to the B787 aircraft and its window are much wider and the lower the engine noise. the Cockpit instruments were upgraded and which is likely to use some of the advanced aircraft avionics that surely enhance the best performance for the aircraft.

India is set to build a central command for the Air Traffic Control system, called ISHAN

India is set to build a central command for the Air Traffic Control system, called ISHAN
Coutresy : Boeing planes

India’s air traffic growth has led to increased responsibilities for air traffic control. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is considering centralizing air traffic control for aircraft, dividing the country into four regions. The goal is to consolidate India’s segmented airspace into a single entity to improve air traffic management (ATM) efficiency, safety, and smoothness.

Recently, the AAI invited expressions of interest to develop a detailed project report for the Indian Single Sky Harmonized Air Traffic Management (ISHAN) initiative in Nagpur. Under this plan, air traffic controllers in Nagpur would handle domestic flights flying above 25,000 feet, eliminating the need for coordination among controllers in different regions.

For domestic regional flights operating above 25,000 feet, control would shift to the central command in Nagpur. This consolidation aims to enhance airline operations, increase flight handling capacity, and reduce congestion and flight times for passengers.

Currently, the AAI provides ATM services over Indian airspace and adjoining oceanic areas, covering over 2.8 million square nautical miles. This airspace is divided into four flight information regions (FIRs) in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai, along with a sub-FIR in Guwahati.

FIRs are responsible for providing air traffic services, including weather information, visibility, and search and rescue assistance. The proposed unification under the ISHAN initiative aligns with the projected growth of the aviation industry, which anticipates a doubling of domestic passenger traffic by 2030.
