Singapore Airlines, the country’s flag carrier, has reopened the search for cabin crew members in South Korea, Thailand, and Taiwan in an effort to fulfil increased demand for flights and make up for a shortage of staff.
Hiring staff from abroad is increasingly more urgent due to the border restrictions in Asian markets including Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan.

SIA stated that it has typically hired cabin crew from a wide range of destinations to support our recruitment intake from Singapore. Our hiring efforts are intended to fill the vacancies left by departing cabin crew due to a number of factors, as well as to support SIA’s expansion goals. As per our need for more employees, there are occasionally more open positions than there are.
SIA stopped hiring during the pandemic and placed a large portion of its cabin staff on unpaid leave until February 2022, when it resumed its local hiring drive. Since then, it has hired roughly 1,200 cabin crew employees and plans to hire another 800 soon.
The airline altered its policy on pregnant employees of the cabin crew in July 2022. SIA now permits pregnant flight attendants to seek for temporary ground jobs and then resume their flight duties after giving birth.
Previously, when a cabin staff member announced she was pregnant, the airline put her on an unpaid leave and demanded that she quit the job as soon as the baby’s birth certificate was presented.
In addition to having a bachelor’s degree from a “recognised university,” SIA emphasises on its cabin crew recruitment page that candidates must be willing to relocate to Singapore.
