Indian Kempegowda Airport ranked as the 2nd most punctual airport in the world – 2022

Particularly in Europe and North America, the last year saw a challenging operational climate, with numerous airlines and airports encountering delays, cancellations, and resource issues. Haneda Airport in Japan takes the top spot, and Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore is rated as the second-most punctual airport with a score of 84.08%. (201,897 flights).
The airport is located about 40 kilometers north of the city center and is named after Kempe Gowda, the founder of Bangalore. It is the third busiest airport in India in terms of passenger traffic, and it handles more than 35 million passengers per year. The airport has a single runway and two passenger terminals.
It is a hub for AirAsia India, Alliance Air, and IndiGo, and it serves as a focus city for Air India, GoAir, and SpiceJet. The airport is owned by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), a public-private partnership, and is operated by BIAL.
It recently opened a second runway to accommodate more aircraft and updated to CAT 3 landings, allowing it to accommodate large jumbo jets like the Airbus A380 and other aircraft. Additionally, a brand-new terminal was opened, drawing visitors in with its opulent interior of bamboo composite architecture.

PIA Reinstates Manchester and Paris Routes After EU Ban Lift
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced plans to resume flights to Europe starting in January, beginning with Paris as its first destination.
The decision follows the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) removal of a long-standing ban on the airline. PIA’s inaugural flight to Paris is scheduled for January 10, with bookings opening on December 9.
DOT Proposes New Passenger Compensation Rules for Flight Disruptions
In an official statement, PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan confirmed that the first flight schedule has been approved, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s recovery efforts. The EU ban had previously cost PIA approximately Rs40 billion ($144 million) annually in lost revenue, compounding its financial struggles.
With European operations restarting, PIA is now setting its sights on the United Kingdom. The airline plans to seek approval from the UK Department for Transport (DfT) to resume flights to major British cities such as London, Manchester, and Birmingham.
