Air India Flight AI183 Forced to Divert to Russia for the Second Time

In order to improve connectivity choices for Air India passengers across Europe, including in isolated regions without airports, the Tata Group airline has entered into an intermodal interline arrangement with AccesRail.

This strategic agreement enables Air India passengers to travel with a single multimodal ticket that includes ground-based train and bus connections to more than 100 cities and towns in nations like Austria, Belgium, Germany, The Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, and the United Kingdom. The European gateways of Air India—Amsterdam, Birmingham, London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Milan, and Vienna—enable this broader accessibility.

Nipun Aggarwal, chief commercial and transformation officer at Air India, commented on the arrangement, stating that “the growth of our worldwide network is one of our main priorities in the ongoing, thorough transformation of Air India. In addition to allowing us to easily link our visitors to a wide range of attractions across Europe, our relationship with AccesRail also helps us to close the connection gaps between India and Europe. Due to the connection, Air India passengers can use the same luggage allowance on these rail or bus operator services as offered by Air India on its own flights.

“We are excited to begin working with Air India and look forward to expanding our partnership with Air India globally with so many of our intermodal rail and coach partners. According to Andrew Popescu, vice president of business development at AccesRail, “Air India will be able to offer its customers more options and destinations through this relationship in a more smooth manner.

Air India will buy Airbus A350 aircraft for international operations, with the plane arriving in March 2023-24.(Opens in a new browser tab)
