Air India Completes Groundbreaking 36-Hour Pharma Delivery to Brussels

Air India, one of India’s most trusted and progressive aviation giants, is raising the bar yet again—this time in cargo logistics.

With a mission to make operations more seamless and customer-focused, the airline has successfully completed its first-ever airport-to-door international cargo delivery, setting a new benchmark in pharmaceutical logistics.

A Groundbreaking Milestone in Cargo Delivery

In a first-of-its-kind operation, air india cargo division has completed a landmark international delivery—transporting six tonnes of temperature-sensitive, life-saving pharmaceuticals from Delhi to a warehouse in Brussels.

The uniqueness of the mission? Brussels is not directly served by Air India’s passenger or cargo network, making this airport-to-door operation a true testament to logistical innovation and teamwork.

Precision Handling of Temperature-Sensitive Pharmaceuticals

Commissioned by SUN Pharma, a global leader in specialty generics, the shipment consisted of four lower-deck pallets filled with life-saving drugs. These critical pharmaceuticals needed to be kept within a narrow temperature range of 15°C to 25°C throughout the journey to maintain their effectiveness.

The journey began in Delhi, where the pallets were carefully loaded onto an Air India flight bound for Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. From there, the shipment was immediately transferred to a temperature-controlled Road Feeder Service (RFS) truck, specially arranged to maintain the required climate conditions during the road journey to Brussels.

Delivered in Just 36 Hours—From Delhi to Brussels

Thanks to meticulous coordination and advanced cold-chain logistics, the entire journey—from the cargo terminal in Delhi to the final delivery point in Brussels—was completed in just 36 hours. The successful delivery underscores air india news ability to integrate air and ground logistics seamlessly, ensuring time-sensitive and high-value shipments reach their destination without compromise.

Extending Reach Beyond Route Networks

This successful operation to Brussels—a city not on Air India’s direct route map—highlights the airline’s capacity to serve global destinations through strategic partnerships. By collaborating with local logistics providers and leveraging temperature-controlled ground transport, Air India extended its operational reach beyond traditional limitations.

Strengthening Air India’s Global Cargo Capabilities

With a strong global network of over 5,000 weekly flights covering 45 domestic and 43 international destinations across 31 countries, Air India is already a major player in air logistics.

In 2024–25 alone, the airline transported more than 4,000 tonnes of pharmaceutical products, alone air india dallas to delhi non stop worldwide.
