Indonesia’s Garuda canceling its order for 49 Boeing 737 Max jets
Jakarta – President Director of Garuda Indonesia, I Gusti Ngurah Askhara Danadiputra said that he had canceled the order of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft units.
The man who is also familiarly called Ari Ashkara said that he had written to Boeing to stop ordering Boeing 737 MAX 8. “We ourselves have sent a letter to McAllister (Boeing boss) if we declare to cancel 49 units,” Ari said when met at Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta, Thursday
Continuing his words Ari revealed that Boeing’s problem is now losing the trust of the customers of Garuda Indonesia. Ari said the airline passengers did not want to ride the Boeing 737 MAX 8.
Furthermore, Ari said that even though the MAX 8 was fixed by Boeing, passenger trust in the aircraft would not return. That is the reason it has to stop ordering 49 remaining Boeing 737 MAX 8. “So even though they have fixed the MAX 8 system, that passenger confidence is gone. So we asked for it to be canceled,” said Ari.
Garuda Indonesia itself previously ordered around 50 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, and one of them had arrived in Indonesia since 2017. However, due to a ban from the Ministry of Transportation, the aircraft has been banned from flying and grounded.
