Pakistan depolying shooters at Lahore airport to shoo away birds.

Pakistan depolying shooters at Lahore airport to shoo away birds.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is trying to prevent bird-plane collisions. Numerous plane crashes have occurred as a result of bird collisions.

On Sunday, PIA flight PK860 from Jeddah was involved in a collision with a bird. “The captain of a Boeing 777 made an emergency landing at the airport in Lahore after a bird strike severely damaged the plane’s number one engine, according to sources. “ There have been eleven bird collision incidents at the Lahore Allama Iqbal Airport.

Although there were measures in place, such as the use of firecrackers, pressure horns, and chemical killing, they had little impact. The abundance of birds around runaways creates a serious risk of accidents. According to the new plan devised by the aviation authority, 12 shooters will be deployed at runaways during the day and ten at night. Two airside duty managers and an airside manager would be on the field to monitor and eliminate bird activity before the start of the day to make flight operations safer.

Open dumping of garbage in residential areas near the airport also attracts birds. Officials have requested people to throw garbage only in designated bins.
