Air India Needed 30,000 parts to make grounded Boeing 787s

An order for 470 aircraft from Boeing and Airbus was made by Air India earlier this year. Wilson claimed there is a substantial imbalance in the order for planes that the airline is attempting to correct.

He was making reference to India’s lack of wide-body aircraft. Wilson added that 13 Boeing 787 aircraft were grounded a few years ago because Air India lacked the finances and needed “30,000 spare parts”. He was responding to a question about problems with the supply chain.
