Indigo Announces First International Flight, between Bhubaneswar-Dubai

IndiGo commences codeshare connections to and from Bulgaria

Budget carrier IndiGo said on Saturday that it would start running flights from Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport to Dubai on May 15. It also disclosed future ambitions to link Bangkok and Singapore with the capital of Odisha. Reservations are now available for the three times weekly flights between Bhubaneswar and Dubai, according to a statement from the airline.

IndiGo stated that it is “working in close coordination” with the government of Odisha to launch international operations out of Bhubaneswar, which will improve air connectivity from the state capital. From May 15, IndiGo starts its inaugural Bhubaneswar-bound international flight would depart from Biju Patnaik International Airport.

According to the statement, international flight operations will also start out of Bhubaneswar for two more destinations: Singapore and Bangkok, where slots and other operational requirements are still being worked out. The airline claims that direct connections to major aviation centres like Dubai, Singapore, and Bangkok will help to better use the enormous potential for economic growth. According to IndiGo, has recently received the contract to run direct flights to these three gateways.

According to Vinay Malhotra, Head Global Sales at IndiGo, “the new direct flights between Bhubaneswar and Dubai will lessen the need for travellers to connect to international destinations through metro cities only.” This will not only enable faster connectivity and enhanced accessibility but will also promote trade and tourism in the state.

  • A cocooned 60-inch curved wall for privacy while maintaining a spacious feel.

Passengers traveling together can enjoy a shared experience with a sliding divider that creates a lounge-like space. The stowable tables also allow for “buddy dining,” where two people can dine together.

The cabin’s flowing curves, inspired by the iconic Concorde wings, create a welcoming and stylish environment. Additionally, passengers can now wheel their luggage directly into their personal storage space, making settling in easier.
