Singapore Airlines Enhances Premium Economy Class In-Flight Experience
Singapore Airlines (SIA) presented its updated Premium Economy Class onboard amenity kit and enlarged and improved food and beverage assortment. Starting on March 31, 2024, these will be offered on flights.
Customers travelling in Premium Economy Class will now be able to enjoy a glass of Charles de Cazanove Brut Tradition NV champagne shortly after takeoff. They have access to a physical copy menu card that lists the numerous meal, snack, and beverage selections that are offered during their journey. Elegant custom-made porcelain Premium Economy Class serviceware will be used to serve their chosen meals.
Additionally, a brand-new Out of the Woods amenity kit1—available only to Premium Economy Class passengers—will be offered on flights lasting seven hours or longer. In order to expand the in-flight meals offered in Premium Economy Class, sq airline has created over 200 additional appetisers, main courses, and desserts. Highlights include new offerings including Bak Chor Mee (minced pork noodles), Thai-style crab curry served with a blend of brown and jasmine rice, and seasonal veggies with egg; Beef Bourguignon served with bacon, mushrooms, vegetables, and potato gratin.
A larger Book the Cook menu with up to 20 rotating meals is also available for selection by customers, provided they place their orders at least 24 hours in advance. Between meals, customers can request for new snack options such as almonds and cashews. These are on top of the existing wide variety of snacks such as potato chips, assorted buns, sandwiches, muffins, as well as flavoured popcorn.
Brand New Premium Economy Class In-flight Amenity Kit
singaporeairlines and Out of the Woods, a US-based producer of sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle goods, have teamed to launch a new amenity package for passengers travelling in premium economy class. The amenity pack contains recycled PET slippers and eyeshades, and it is constructed from environmentally friendly kraft paper fabric certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). A lip balm wrapped in biodegradable material is also included in the bundle. The lavatory will still include toiletries like moisturising creams and dentistry supplies.

Air India to Launch aircraft maintenance training institute in Bengaluru
Air India, one of India’s leading global airlines, is set to establish a Basic Maintenance Training Organization (BMTO) in Bengaluru.
This institute will offer a comprehensive Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) program certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The program will follow an integrated 2+2 year structure, combining classroom learning with practical, hands-on training.
This initiative is part of Air India’s broader goal of creating a robust aviation ecosystem in India. With plans to expand its fleet and strengthen its operations, the airline aims to build a skilled workforce of maintenance engineers, making the organization self-reliant while supporting its ambitious transformation journey.

To bring this vision to life, air india has partnered with Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL), a subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL). Together, they will develop a state-of-the-art facility spanning 86,000 square feet at Bengaluru Airport City.
This purpose-built campus will feature modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, and qualified trainers to deliver world-class education and training. The institute is expected to become operational by mid-2026.
The BMTO will be located close to Air India’s new 12-bay Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility, also set to open in Bengaluru by early 2026. The AME program will begin with two years of academic coursework, followed by two years of practical training at the MRO, ensuring students receive hands-on experience adhering to industry standards.

In the meantime, Air India has introduced a Cadet AME program in collaboration with reputable institutions in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
This ensures continuity in its commitment to developing skilled aircraft maintenance engineers while the BMTO facility is under construction. The program also allows students to pursue a bachelor’s degree through university partnerships, enhancing their career and academic opportunities.
