American Airlines 787-8 door ripped off after boarding bridge collapses at Dublin Airport.

On Sunday, a door on an American Airlines flight to Philadelphia came loose as it was getting ready to take off at Dublin Airport. The Flight was canceled.

In social media images of the incident, a jet bridge bearing the Aer Lingus logo can be seen positioned beneath the fuselage door hole, and it appears that fire trucks were present. An American Airlines spokesperson issued a statement in which they claimed that no one was on board at the time and that the damage was brought on by a “jet bridge malfunction.”

“We dispatched a replacement plane to fly the affected flight, which is now scheduled to depart this afternoon.” We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience and appreciate our team’s professionalism.”

Normally fixed to the terminal gate of the airport, jet bridges must be moved to make space for approaching planes before being extended once more for passengers. Using a control panel, a qualified operator can additionally rotate some designs to the left, right, up, and down.

Yesterday, American Airlines Flight 732 was scheduled to go from Dublin, Ireland to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The airline’s Boeing 787-8, which was intended to fly the route, was unable to take off.
